MHCC 2022 Memorial Match

David Bird Memorial

Sadly, in March, 2022, David Bird, our beloved Club President passed away. David always believed in the importance of the community, playing cricket in the right spirit, having fun, and of course, a good social!

So after 50 years following the formation of the Club in 1972, we pulled together a memorial competition involving 4 teams representing the roads around the area - Claremont, Norman, The Barons and The Wanderers many players new and slightly older from MHCC, MMCC Men’s and Junior’s took part plus friends and family. Whilst Norman Avenue CC skippered by Courtney were the eventual winners, the real winners were the children who took part with outstanding batting and bowling by Isaac, Casper, Charles and many more plus a special home-baked cake award ceremony judged by Helena with great baking skills from many of the non playing participants, including Amelie which brought much enjoyment to the match. At the end of the competition the sun shined with a fun speech from David's  son, Tom. Rest in Peace "Lord Bird"
